From the director
“When my first short, Wake, was accepted to the NSI Online Short Film Festival, I was thrilled. The news came the same week that I delivered the finished cut of my second short, Bone Deep, to CBC. It was a good week! There may have been wine. Both shorts are part of what one day could be a set of six films. All have been drawn from the writing of Jessica Marsh and all are based on characters from her one-man play Maelstrom. It would be great to make all six films and I’d like to make them with the same production team.
“I am so happy that Bone Deep has been accepted into festivals and I’m beyond happy that I’m finally getting to say that I have directed films. My teenage self is finally getting off my back about getting on with it.”
The Nova Scotia Communities, Culture & Heritage awarded Bone Deep a $5000 grant to the creation of the film.
Done Deep was made after an extensive grassroots fundraising campaign and an amazing CBC prize package for winning last year’s Short Film FaceOff.
As part of our prize package for winning The Short Film FaceOff with WAKE, we were given a broadcast license; meaning that Bone Deep aired on CBC TV. It was also entered into the Short Film Face Off and played film festivals.
